Letters -- March 1890 -- Job P Gorton to Mabel Gorton
Abington (pennsylvania) March 10 1890
Dear granddaughter Mabel
I received your nice little letter and was very glad to hear from you and am pleased that you are learning so fast as to be able to read in the third reader and can write so nicely. I often look at the photographs of yourself and brothers and sisters and feel quite proud of my handsome grandchildren and wish I could see you all in your Idaho home. But I do not know as I shall ever feel well to take so long a journey. I would like to have your papa and mamma and all the children to come here and make us a visit and see old Pennsylvania. I thank you and little sister for the nice present you sent me one year ago last Christmas. I look at them and think of my little grandchildren far away. Now you must write again and I will try to answer sooner. Give my love to all the family.
From your loving grandpa JP Gorton
(Written Seven months before Mabel and her sisters died.)
